Diamond Bar High Magnificent 7 Upcoming Events

DIAMOND BAR, CA--The Diamond Bar High School Magnificent 7 Parent Groups have several events calendared in the coming months.

These groups are dedicated to supporting the school, staff, and students through fundraising, donations, special events, educational enrichment, and college planning.

The Magnificent 7 is comprised of the Brahma Boosters, Brahma Foundation, Chinese American Parent Association (CAPA), Korean American Parent Association (KAPA), Hispanic Organization of Parents and Education (HOPE), South Asian Parent Association (SAPA), and Council of African American Parents (CAAP).

These groups aim to provide opportunities for all students to learn, be creative, and develop skills that will enhance their abilities in college and life.  The Magnificent 7 also models the value of unity and teamwork for students and how much can be accomplished through working together.

January 18: Speaker and author Tyler Durman will present three “Stuff 4 Your Life” assemblies for all Diamond Bar High School students at the school during the day. Tyler is a sought after storyteller for his ability to make people laugh, while giving them wisdom and hope. He has spoken at over 7,800 schools, conferences, and events, and to more than five million teenagers. During the DBHS assemblies, he will focus on the topic of dealing with stress during college preparation, SAT exams, and completing college applications. Durman will also host a Parent Meeting that evening at 7:00 p.m. to give parents important tips on how to support their children during this important time in their life. This presentation is sponsored by the DBHS Brahma Foundation and South Asian Parent Association (SAPA) and is open to all Walnut Valley Unified students and families.

January 27:  Citibank Donation - Diamond Bar High School will receive a $5,000 STEM Program donation from Citibank. The presentation will take place during the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Diamond Bar branch located at 1188 S. Diamond Bar Blvd. (Old Ralphs shopping center) at 12:00 p.m.  Representatives from the Diamond Bar City Council, Walnut Valley Unified School District, and Diamond Bar High administration, pep squad, and band will be on hand for the ceremony.

February 11:  DBHS Food Truck Festival featuring several popular gourmet food trucks including Don Chow Tacos, The Slummin’ Gourmet, Slammin’ Sliders, Sweet E’s Bake shop, Bool Korean Barbecue, NomNom Truck, and Jogasaki.  A portion of the sales will be donated to the school. The event will be held in the parking lot in front of the school from at 21400 E. Pathfinder Road 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The $2.00 entry fee will be donated to the Diamond Bar High School. This event is open to the community.

February 17-19:  Multicultural Spring Carnival  - Diamond Bar High School and the Hispanic Organization of Parents for Education (HOPE) will host their first-ever Multicultural Spring Carnival in February. This event, in partnership with Ted Holcomb – Fiesta de carnival Promotions, will feature mechanical rides, game booths, student performances, etc.  Admission to the event is free. Carnival rides are $1.00 per ride. Tickets may also be purchased in advance for 50% off at the school. This event will be held in the parking lot in front of the school at 21400 E. Pathfinder Road. The carnival times are: Friday – 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Saturday  - 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Sunday – 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (Monday is a Holiday). This event is open to the community.
