WALNUT, CA--City of Walnut Mayor Andrew Rodriguez surprised second grader Emma Acenas on February 25 in reply to a letter she’d written him.

“It would be a dream if you could visit my school,” she said in the handwritten note.

The mayor told students that he has the letter displayed in his office at City Hall.

"That was so nice - it makes my day!"

The VIP alumnus visited with students in teacher Diane Zell’s class, answered questions, and offered some advice – “make sure you do your homework, read, and listen to your teachers!”

Then the City official was interviewed by 5th grader Evans Chen, a member of the Principal’s Council, for the school’s construction vlog.

Great morning!
