WALNUT, CA-- Walnut Valley USD Board of Trustees has appointed Diane Perez as new Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.

Perez brings a stellar background and expertise in collaborative working relationships with teachers, staff, parents, and students to the new post.

She joined the Walnut Valley administrative team at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic and hit the deck running.

The approval was held on March 18 during the final Board Meeting before virtual gatherings were implemented.

“I am thrilled to bring my passion for people and customer service to WVUSD and serve this incredible team of dedicated educators who put kids first!” she said.

Perez is a champion of equity and access for all students and staff.

She sees Human Resources as key to ensuring equity and access for all because the division communicates the values, culture and the heart of the District in every interaction and decision.

Perez also said she looks forward to continuing to advance the positive, progressive, and inclusive culture of Walnut Valley.

Her career spanned 15 years in the San Jacinto Unified School District where she served as superintendent for six years.

She was also deputy superintendent and assistant superintendent of personnel services, director of student support, and coordinator of student services.

Prior to that, she was a Safe Schools administrator and Pupil Support Services coordinator in the Riverside County Office of Education.

Most recently she was Human Resources Consultant for the San Jacinto Community College.

Perez holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from University of California, Los Angeles, master’s degree in Educational Counseling from University of Redlands, and is a 2021 doctoral candidate at Azusa Pacific University.

Perez succeeds Dr. Matthew Witmer who was named Deputy Superintendent of Educational Services in December.
