DIAMOND BAR, CA—Visiting furry friends brought comfort and lots of smiles at South Pointe Middle School this week.
“We have therapy dogs on campus and the kids are having a blast!” Counselor Chris Sandoval shared during the March 29 lunchtime event.
“I like having the dogs at school!” exclaimed sixth grader Dylan Crawford while petting Lucky, a friendly black Labrador.
“He’s really cute and fluffy!” said seventh grader Grace Covarrubias with Reign, a gentle seven-year-old Collie.
It’s been two years since the therapy dogs have been on campus due to the pandemic.
“South Pointe is so thankful to the Pet Prescription Team for providing furry friends and warm hugs to our students when they need it most,” said Principal Dr. Susan Arzola.
The school’s Builder’s Club collected dozens of blankets and towels for a local animal shelter.
“I liked Bailey the Golden Retriever the best!” added eighth grader Nicholas Heng.
Mitter, a tiny Chihuahua, was also getting plenty of attention while stationed at the Panther mascot statue.
“It’s wonderful to see how happy these four-legged friends are making everyone feel,” Sandoval added.
“From our students to our staff, everyone is coming out to enjoy a moment and pet an adorable dog!”
