C.J. Morris Families Spread Holiday Cheer
WALNUT, CA--C.J. Morris Elementary students and their families attended the annual Night of Giving event held December 16.
Many donations were collected for needy families including toys and sporting goods for the Spark of Love toy drive, new children’s pajamas for the Orangewood Children’s Center, and gently used clean towels and blankets for the Inland Valley Humane Society for use with the animals in their kennels.
There were lots of crafts to make – some for students to keep and some to share! When students made two holiday ornaments – they took one home and one would be donated to a local nursing home.
During this busy season, it also gave families an opportunity to spend time together making cheery holiday ornaments, decorations, and stringing beaded snowman and snowflake necklaces.
Some students used their artistic talent to design holiday cards with special messages for our troops away from home during the holidays.
“It made me feel good to make this card,” said fifth grader Melissa Flores. “They’re doing so much for us, it’s the least I could do.”
“We can make a difference and show the world we care,” said Principal Susan Arzola.
