DBHS Shatters State Record
DIAMOND BAR, CA--Congratulations to Diamond Bar High School’s instrumental music program. Fifty-five students have been selected for the All Southern California High School Honor Band and Orchestra, eclipsing the old record of thirty-one from any one school. The honor groups consist of the top wind, string, and percussion students from Kern County down to the border of Mexico.
More than 1,500 students are invited to audition with the top 220 students selected. They spend a week in working with top professional conductors and musicians and present an amazing concert at the end of the weekend.
The High School Honor Groups Concert is being held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 23 at the California State University, Long Beach Carpenter Center for Performing Arts.
This success is due in no small part to the commitment of DBHS administration to the success of every child. Principal Catherine Real and Instructional Dean, Julian Rodriguez have developed a program through the Performing Arts Academy that has truly leveled the playing field and allowed all of our students to maximize their true potential.
Through partnerships with local universities and professional organizations Diamond Bar High School students are given high-level individual attention and instruction with opportunities for all students to achieve at a level and depth never before seen at a comprehensive high school.
Congratulations to Performing Arts Academy Director Steve Acciani and to the talented students selected for this ensemble!
