During the school-wide Sensory Experience held during April’s Autism Acceptance Month, every Evergreen Elementary class had the opportunity to walk through the multipurpose room and experience the stations. Video at: https://youtu.be/--CF1sXLqMo.
Everyone has different sensory experiences, even you! When you think of the word Sensory think of your 5 senses; hear, touch, see, smell, taste. Some examples would be tapping your pencil, shaking your leg, twirling your hair, or not being able to focus when it is too loud. Many autistic people have sensory sensitivities which means they experience their senses stronger than others. The sensory room allows students to take a break and use tools that help neurodiverse students regulate their bodies. #SensoryExperience
