Stellar parent volunteers and community members were honored during the “A Night of Stars” Gala held April 27 at the Diamond Bar Center.
The Walnut Valley Educational Foundation event lauded exemplary parents, alumni, business, education, leadership, and service partners.
Distinguished Parent Partners awards were presented to Katia Alsayed - Castle Rock Elementary, Billy Fermin - Cyrus J. Morris Elementary, Katie Daher - Collegewood Elementary, Mona Hwang - Evergreen Elementary, Nicole Smith - Maple Hill Elementary, Angie Yung-Yuey - Quail Summit Elementary, Amy DeYampert - Vejar Elementary, Natalie Liu - Walnut Elementary, Ashley Chau - Westhoff Elementary, Kim Alegado - Chaparral Middle School, Angie Chiao - South Pointe Middle School, Naomi Jang - Suzanne Middle School, Tjieu Ngoe (Chang) - Diamond Bar High, and Venessa Lopez - Walnut High.
Distinguished Partner Awards were presented to Rachel Scott, Senior Congressional Correspondent, ABC News, Diamond Bar High Class of 2011 - Alumni, Theresa Lee, CEO, TRK Customs Services, Inc. – Business Partner, Bob and Michelle Sun, Owners, Chick-fil-A City of Industry – Community Partner, WVUSD Dual Language Immersion Program – Education Partner, and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Walnut/Diamond Bar Station – Service Partner.
“It’s our city and our school district that set the foundation for the career I have now,” said Rachel Scott, an Emmy-award winning alumni honoree in a video message from the nation’s capital. “To the teachers, faculty, and staff, thank you for pouring into students like me every step of the way!”
