WALNUT, CA --Walnut High School has been recognized as a 2022-23 Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished School for providing broad access to transformative learning opportunities in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science.
Walnut High has offered the rigorous International Baccalaureate Career-Related Programme/Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences Program for the past ten years.
“This has been a decade of scientific experimentation, discovery, and innovation!” shared teacher Ellie Blanchard.
Walnut High is one of 262 high schools across the U.S. to receive this honor for increasing student awareness, engagement, and achievement.
The biomedical pathway immerses students in hands-on activities and collaboration to find solutions to real-world challenges.
“This program is about uncovering natural curiosities and developing scientific skills that help students make a difference while building relationships with peers and teachers,” Blanchard added.
“Our Class of 2023 has left us feeling inspired to grow the program so we can reach even more students in the next 10 years!”
Walnut High also received the special PLTW Distinguished School designation for the 2019-2020 school year.
In 2013, Walnut High made history as the first in California to offer both IBCC with the Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences program as its career-related component.
