Suzanne Recycling Drive Helps Japan Relief
WALNUT, CA— Suzanne Middle School hosted its Annual Recycling Drive last week with global results.
The drive raised awareness for conservation and also aided the disaster relief for those affected by the earthquake in Japan and Pacific tsunami.
Students and staff brought in empty plastic bottles and aluminum cans during the week of March 21 – 25.
“I’m glad this will help a lot of people in Japan,” said 6th grader Stanley Yoo.
And the rainy weather didn’t hinder the effort to help.
A grand total of $527 was raised from the 1,730 pounds of recyclables collected.
All the funds will be donated to the American Red Cross relief effort for Japan.
“It was good to donate plastic bottles because it can save a life,” said 6th grader Valerie Feng.
