South Pointe Hosts Renaissance Faire
DIAMOND BAR, CA--South Pointe Middle School 7th grade students had a day of history and fun at the 4th Annual Renaissance Faire held May 13.
They donned medieval costumes as peasants, noblemen, knights, and princesses for a morning of games, crafts, and ye ol’ snacks too!
Students got a firsthand glimpse into the past as they learned steps of a 16th century country dance, juggled and jousted with friends, created ribbon wreaths, script initials, potpourri bags, and brass rubbings.
Boys learned about military life, weapon (18’-22’ spears) demonstration, and lined up in pike lines, just as soldiers did in the middle ages. Maidens and noblemen even posed in an authentic-looking stock for a keepsake photo!
The event is the culminating activity on a social studies unit of study on the middle ages.
