Student Kannon Lopez and Parent Volunteer Amy De Rampert Receive Award from Board of Trustees
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WALNUT, CA—The Walnut Valley Unified School District (WVUSD) Board of Trustees recognized an outstanding student and a community partner from Vejar Elementary School (Vejar E.S.) during the September 16 meeting.
Fifth-grader Kannon Lopez received the Super Star Student Award. Kannon has worked throughout the years to overcome challenges and experiences with learning. Along the way, he has matured and developed coping skills to meet his learning needs in the classroom and on campus. Additionally, he has always shown his authentic self with his personality, smile, and sense of humor.
“He is a joy to our community and always brings a smile and laughter wherever he goes,” said Vejar E.S. Principal Whitney Kosloski, EdD. “We are excited to recognize Kannon with his growth, leadership, and positive transition to fifth grade at Vejar.”
Parent volunteer and Community Club member Amy De Yampert received the Partner in Education Award. Amy is a cornerstone of the Vejar community. She spent the last three years as the Vejar Community Club (VCC) President and this year passed the torch as she stepped into the coordinator role for the fifth-grade parent committee.
Kosloski added, “Under Amy’s leadership, VCC raised the bar to create professional and personable experiences for families, increased parent participation and membership, brought meaningful experiences and events to our campus, and raised over $100,000 in donations. And she did it all with a calm and quiet demeanor and a smile. We are forever grateful for her leadership and impact on our school.”
