Walnut Valley USD Hosts First-Ever "Let's Talk" Event to Engage Families and District Leaders

Walnut, CA – On February 20, Walnut Valley Unified School District (WVUSD) hosted its inaugural "Let’s Talk: A Conversation with Families and District Leaders" event at Walnut Elementary School. Parents from all 15  schools gathered for an evening of open dialogue, sharing their experiences, successes, and challenges related to student learning and well-being.

Throughout the night, parents engaged in meaningful discussions about how their children are supported academically and socially at school. Principals Dr. Kosloski, Mrs. Veneracion, and Mr. Hong addressed attendees, highlighting the district’s Diversity Think Tank and ongoing efforts to foster safe, welcoming learning environments across all school sites.

The event centered on WVUSD’s theme of "You Are Welcome Here," reinforcing the district’s commitment to inclusivity and student success. Parents participated in interactive activities and discussions designed to strengthen the connection between families and school leadership.

Superintendent Dr. Robert Taylor and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Matt Torres emphasized the importance of direct communication with families, ensuring that district leaders continue to listen, learn, and grow in their efforts to support students. Dr. Diane Perez, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, facilitated discussions between parents and district leaders, guiding conversations that provided valuable insights.

WVUSD parent Alice shared her thoughts on the evening, stating, "I think tonight was a really exciting opportunity for families and the school district to have really open, honest conversations about what's going well and where there are opportunities for improvement."

The Let’s Talk event was a powerful step in fostering collaboration between WVUSD families and educators, ensuring that every student thrives in a supportive and inclusive environment. The district looks forward to continuing these conversations and building even stronger partnerships with its community.
