March Board Recognition Highlights Outstanding Students, Parents, and Cultural Awareness

WALNUT, CA – Hip Hip Hooray! The Walnut Valley Unified School District Board meeting on March 19 was filled with celebrations, recognizing outstanding student achievements, dedicated parents, and cultural awareness initiatives.

Chaparral Middle School Principal, Dr. Jung, proudly presented Chaparral’s MATHCOUNTS team to the School Board. This talented team, comprised primarily of female students, earned top spots at the recent chapter competition. Congratulations, Cougars!

Maple Hill Elementary Principal, Ms. McNeil, honored 5th grader Malone Sewell as Maple Hill’s Star Student. Ms. McNeil shared, "Malone’s dedication to both her academics and her community is truly inspiring." Additionally, she recognized Rafael Joa and Rachel Yu, parents of 4th grader Eva, as Maple Hill’s Partners in Education. She highlighted the positive impact they have made on campus through their ongoing support and involvement.

Suzanne Middle School Principal, Dr. Smith, introduced 8th grader Neil Hsu as Suzanne’s Star Student, commending his positive attitude and stellar character. Dr. Smith also recognized Jaed Arzadon as Suzanne’s Partner in Education, an exceptional Community Club parent whose dedication to volunteering and student growth has greatly benefited the school.

In addition to student and parent recognition, the Board meeting featured a special presentation by parent Dr. Nida Hamiduzzaman, who shared insights about Ramadan and the ways in which WVUSD families observe this important religious month. Her presentation emphasized the significance of cultural awareness and the importance of educators being mindful of the needs of students observing Ramadan.
