A Day of Remembrance. A Day of Thanks.
On the eve of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Walnut Valley staff members share their thoughts and remembrances from the nation’s tragedy in 2001:
Shortly after 9/11 occurred, the names of the deceased were published in the newspaper. Each staff member were given 2 names, which I taped to my white board. Each time I saw their names, I would remember them, their loved one, and say a little prayer. I often wonder how their families are doing 10 years later. They will forever be in my heart.

My remembrance of September 11th 2001 must be the same as the American citizens felt about December 7th, 1941. A complete tragic day that changed America forever hoping to never repeat such a tragedy.

My dad was retiring in December of 2011 from the Marine Corps (after 30+ years of service), but 9/11 happened and he was sent to Iraq one more time at the age of 50. It was heart-wrenching on so many levels.

We didn't fall apart, as was hoped. We fell into each other’s embrace.
