Suzanne Honors Veterans at Flag Ceremony
School Honors Two Teachers for Their Service

WALNUT, CA--Suzanne Middle School held a special flag ceremony to pay tribute to those who have served in our nation’s military during Veteran's Day week.

Two Suzanne teachers – Joshua Henness, social studies/science and Ron Egigian, social were also honored during a flag ceremony held November 9.

Students, staff, and administrators gathered at the school’s flagpole for the ceremony featuring patriotic music presented by students under the direction of band teacher Jeff Blackstone.  Suzanne and Walnut High graduate Justin Maxwell, now a representative for a local recruiting agency, raised the flag.

"It is important to remember and honor all of those very special people who have been willing to sacrifice their own lives for our country’s freedom,” said Principal Les Ojeda.

“My father was a Navy man. I am honored to have a father who served diligently in the military. I am grateful for the freedom of our country that we enjoy because of people like my father, Mr. Hennes and Mr. Egigian, he said.

“We should all be grateful for the service that men like Mr. Henness and Mr. Egigian provided. It is because of people like them that we live in a country where we can enjoy our freedom and live the way we do,” said Science teacher Mark Gifford.

Diamond Bar High School also honored Veteran’s Day heroes this week. A display in the school library featured several family member photos on a global map and detailed information of about their service. (See attached file for details)
