Christmas Kindness

WALNUT, CA--For nearly a decade, Walnut Valley Unified School District employees have donated a new pair of athletic shoes and holiday gifts for local students.

Through the program called Caring Soles, staff members, primarily from the District Office, signed up to participate in November.

In early December the volunteers were given the first name, age, and shoe size of their “Christmas Child”.

The Caring Soles program designates they purchase a new pair of closed-toe tennis shoes.

But, these generous gift-givers went way beyond to help give a special Christmas gift to their designated child.

This year, 83 Walnut Valley elves filled holiday gift bags to the brim with extra shoes, slippers, socks, and a variety of toys and gifts.

“It was wonderful seeing our staff generously stepping forward with new shoes and gifts for these children just in time for the holiday season,” said, Bertha Pimentel, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent.

The gifts were distributed to the students on Friday, December 16, the last day of school before the Winter Break.
