Walnut High Science Class Gets High-Tech Weather Lesson with CBS2 Weatherman

WALNUT, CA—A group of Walnut High School students recently got a unique weather lesson from Josh Rubenstein, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weatherman, via Skype.

Teacher Bob Van Setten's 5th period Science class participated in the high-tech meeting on March 12.

The activity was a follow up on the Weather Unit the students had been studying for the past two weeks.

The CBS newsman showed the students the various computer-based data he uses to create a weather report for television.

The students were treated to a half a hour lesson followed by a question and answer period.

Rubenstein also included a brief tour through the studio, showed his "green screen", and even introduced CBS/KCAL news anchor Suzie Suh!

The quick-thinking teacher videotaped the Skype lesson on is iPAD.

On the following evening’s 6 pm news broadcast, the CBS anchor shared about his Skype conversation with the Walnut class while showing their photo. And he thanked the students for being such a great listeners!
