Students Pass Drama Examination

WALNUT, CA--Suzanne Middle School drama students recently took an exam administered by the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).

Twenty-three students took the exam at Suzanne Middle School on Friday, February 17 and they all passed!

Eleven did so well that they passed “With Distinction”, the highest mark possible on the exam.

They are Joy Cai, Lauren Garrett, Leah Rickard, Phillip Sobretodo, Samantha Alvarez, Marissa Barajas, Mariah Quintero, Nikki Rubio, Katelyn Rowley, Adrienne Caparaz, and Morgan Valdez.

“I’m so proud of them,” exclaimed drama teacher Helen Papadopoulos. “They worked really hard and it wasn’t easy. They all had a really amazing experience.”

Founded in 1861, LAMDA is one of the oldest drama schools in the United Kingdom.

The oral examinations are a comprehensive system of performance evaluation by experts in education, acting and communication. LAMDA examinations are designed to equip learners, whatever their age or aspirations, with a range of skills that will serve them throughout life.

Preparation for an examination can unlock the imagination and creative thinking, develop communication skills, refine technical skills and artistry, and promote team-building.

Students benefit from the experience by measuring progress against an international standard, making contact with expert practitioner examiners, building self-confidence and self-esteem, acquiring skill certification, and receiving critical appraisal and guidance for future development.
