Diamond Bar and Walnut Named Newsweek Top High Schools
WALNUT, CA—Diamond Bar and Walnut High have been ranked in the 2012 Newsweek list of the top 1,000 schools in the nation.
DBHS ranked 135th in the nation and 19th in the state; WHS ranked 242nd in the nation and 39th in the state.
Newsweek’s list of America’s Best High Schools rewards the institutions leading the way in getting their students ready for college and beyond.
This is the seventh consecutive year that DBHS has been named to the prestigious listing of America’s Best High Schools. WHS has also received Newsweek’s A+ ranking in seven prior years.
The ranking is based on the school’s 2011 graduation rate:
Diamond Bar High: (100%), college matriculation rate (97%), AP/IB tests administered per student (0.8), average SAT/ACT scores (1737/27.2), and average AP scores (3.7).
Walnut High: (99%), college matriculation rate (97%), AP/IB tests administered per student (0.6), average SAT/ACT scores (1686/26), and average AP scores (3.7).
“This is a great honor for the school and the community,” said WHS Principal Jeff Jordan.
“We are especially gratified because Diamond Bar High School is an open enrollment school that was ranked against charter and magnet schools across the nation and the state. When ranked against other open enrollment high schools, Diamond Bar High School came in 51st in the nation, and 11th in the State of California,” said DBHS Principal Catherine Real.

Congratulations to DBHS and WHS students, parents and staff on this outstanding accomplishment!
