Quail Summit Super Star Student and Community Partner Honored
WALNUT, CA--Quail Summit Elementary third grader Christopher Gaw Gonzalo was honored as the school’s Super Star by the Walnut Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees on September 5.
“I think Chris represents the best of us,” described Principal Dr. Alysia Hobbs-Odipo during the Board Meeting.
“He has a can-do attitude and perseveres every single day with courage,” she said
When Chris encounters things that are a challenge, he overcomes them quickly.
“He is quite a dynamo!” she proudly exclaimed.
Last year we learned that when students in his math group were having trouble -Chris grabbed a whiteboard, sat down next to them, and said, ‘Oh, let me show you how to do it,’ she said.
“He is quite an excellent student!”
“I want to step it up and I want to not only be the best student of the whole school but to be an example for other students,” Christopher said after he received an Award of Special Recognition from Board President Larry Redinger.
Quail Summit also selected Chick-fil-A and owner Bob Sun as the recipient of the District’s new “Partners in Education” award.
“When our computer lab was taken from us last year, I asked Chick-fil-A to provide dinner for our Father-Daughter ballroom dance fundraiser. It was a great opportunity to raise funds and to also come together as a community,” Hobbs-Odipo said.
Chick-fil-A has fully supported us numerous times and we are so appreciative, she added.
Marketing Representative Christina Dobson accepted the award on behalf of the restaurant located at 21550 E. Valley in the City of Industry.
“Every one of our superintendents has stated that Walnut Valley is great because of our students and staff. But we are a world-class district that operates like a private school district because of this amazing supportive family,” Redinger said. “Thank you and we appreciate your support.”
