Computers Donated for Walnut Valley Adult Education Program
WALNUT, CA—The Walnut Valley Unified School District accepted a donation of eight HP computers from the Southern California Chinese Federation on October 4.
The new technology will be used in the District’s Adult Education program in classes offered at the Ron Hockwalt High School now located at 880 S. Lemon Avenue in Walnut.
“Our goal it to help the local residents increase their knowledge through the Adult Education program,” representative Eric Lee said.
Adult Education Computer Skills classes are held in the evenings and weekends with teachers Su Ching (Annie) Chang and Roger Lee.
Walnut Mayor Mary Su said she learned of the need after meeting computer teacher Annie Chang attended the city’s recent public safety seminar on September 20.
“She came to me and said we need computers. If you can help that would be great,” Su said.
Su contacted Edward Tsai, President of the Southern California Chinese Federation to request a donation.
And one week later it happened.
“Annie was shocked when we brought the new computers to class,” Su added.
The Walnut Mayor is now working on getting additional computers donations for the program.
“Education is the foundation for our community. We should always try to help our children and our schools. I’m here to serve our community, so when I learn about a need, I always try to find a solution,” Su said.
