WALNUT, CA--Three Cyrus J. Morris stars were honored by the Walnut Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees during the meeting held December 5, 2012.

Fifth Grader Monet Carlson was recognized as the school’s 2012-2013 Super Star Student.

“Monet shines whenever she enters the room. She brightens everyone’s day with her big smile and positive attitude!” said Principal An Nguyen. This fifth grader also has the impressive ability to demonstrate leadership.

“She has the resilience and determination to make a positive difference in the lives of those around her. That’s why we’re proud to recognize Monet as our Super Star,” Nguyen said.

Two Cyrus J. Morris Elementary parent volunteers were honored as Partners in Education.

Mrs. Carmen LaRue-Carrigan is a second grade parent and Community Club President.

“She is a very supportive parent who thoroughly enjoys her work as the Community Club President.  In her first year in this role, she has already shown that she deserves the top spot because she brings people together.  Her cheerfulness and enthusiasm shines through in everything she does. Her leadership with our parents this year has been greatly appreciated by all who work alongside her,” Nguyen said.

Mr. Martin Silva, is a Fourth Grade parent and School Site Council President.

“Mr. Silva has been very involved at our school for the past several years.  He serves in his role as the School Site Council President with great organization and leadership skills.  He is also dedicated to helping review the detailed School and Safety Plans.  If you need someone on your team who is reliable and consistent, you’ll do well to have Mr. Silva on your team,” Nguyen said.
