Diamond Bar High Named 2014 National GRAMMY Signature School
DIAMOND BAR, CA—The GRAMMY Foundation announced today that Diamond Bar High School's instrumental and vocal programs have earned the prestigious 2014 National Grammy Signature School award.
DBHS is among the twelve schools nationwide named Grammy Signature Schools for 2014.
Diamond Bar High School has been named the best of the top three schools designated as Gold recipients.
As the National GRAMMY Signature School, DBHS will receive $6,000 for its programs.
Of over 120 nationwide GRAMMY Signature Semifinalists, Diamond Bar High teachers Steve Acciani, director of instrumental music, Patty Breitag, choir director and Marie Sato, director of instrumental music, have guided their students towards this achievement.
The process involved a lengthy and arduous application including submitting performance recordings.
“We are incredibly proud of Patty, Marie, and Steve for this amazing accomplishment. We are especially proud of our kids, their parents, and the community for supporting our four A’s: Academics, Athletics, Activities, and the Arts!” said Principal Catherine Real.
The DBHS Symphony Orchestra will be performing at Meng Hall at California State University, Fullerton on Sunday, March 23 at 4:00 pm. Tickets are only $5 and may be purchased at the door.
"The impact of our GRAMMY Signature Schools program is truly significant," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation.
"Through this GRAMMY in the Schools initiative, the GRAMMY Foundation is able to provide critical financial resources and bring attention to the excellence of music programs in schools across the United States. This program also helped inspire the Music Educator Award presented by The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation that honors music's unsung heroes — the teachers who encourage music's next generation."
