Vejar Elementary shows support for second grader
WALNUT, CA--Vejar Elementary School is showing how much they care for one of their own.
Second grade student Andrew Osorio has struggled with heart problems his whole life and is in need of a new heart. He has been placed on the national transplant list and his family is anxiously awaiting good news.
The school has watched the eight-year old grow, carry on, and do the things he can do – always with a smile.
Osorio’s 1st and 2nd grade teacher Jamie Highstreet said that he does well despite ongoing health challenges.
“He has a positive attitude, he’s sweet and kind. He’s just an angel.”
During the Give from the Heart fundraiser, parents are collecting donations and selling $1 popsicles after school May 22, 27-29 to help the family with expenses.
“Some of the families have been so generous. They’ll give five dollars and take only one popsicle,” said volunteer Terrie Bin.
If you would like to support this fundraiser, please send checks payable to Vejar Community Club at 20222 E. Vejar Road, Walnut, CA 91789 by June 20.
