The DBHS Theatre Arts program performed Orpheus, an original opera, with LA Opera’s professional artists, on November 19.  

The professionals were in residence for 10 weeks teaching students their roles in the opera as part of the Secondary In-School Opera program.

“It is really inspiring to get to work with professionals with these huge, wonderful voices who are out there working and making a living in the arts, and yet they are so accessible and willing to provide guidance,” said sophomore Julianna King.

Students learned operatic vocal technique and vocabulary during rehearsals

“This program has provided a great opportunity for students to learn about a genre of theatre and music most of them had not experienced before,” director Beatrice Casagran said.
