Walnut High stages ‘You Can’t Take It With You’

WALNUT, CA—The Walnut High School Drama Department will present the comedy classic “You Can’t Take It With You” with 7 p.m. shows November 4-7.

“You Can’t Take It With You” follows an eccentric family that allows each member to pursue his own ambition in the home, but their routine is disrupted when a daughter with a regular job wants to bring her fiancé and his Wall Street family to dinner in George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart’s Pulitzer Prize-winning production.

Senior Ali Hoghoughi, age 17, plays the family matriarch Martin Vanderhof, known as ‘Grandpa.’

“This is the biggest show I’ve been and it’s been fun!”

“The Sycamores are a loud and crazy, artistic family and the Kirby’s are an uptight Wall Street family. They don’t really understand the ways of the Sycamore house,” he explains.

“Our show is about two people from unlike families who fall in love. When one comes to dinner, things don’t go as they planned!”

Walnut High’s new drama teacher Matt Migliorini directs the talented cast in the 1936 classic.

“You Can’t Take It With You” is one of my favorite shows of all time!”

“I just like the message: it’s more important that you have fun and do what you like in life rather than do what you feel like society tells you to do. I think I’ve been living my life by that motto since I was born!”

Presale tickets are $11 for adults and $8 for students and may be purchased online at https://walnutdrama.tixato.com. Tickets purchased at the door are $13 for adults and $10 for students. For more information, please call (909) 594-1333 ext. 34212.

The WHS Performing Arts Center is located at 400 N. Pierre Road, Walnut.

Migliorini wants his cast to have a memorable experience, one that they’ll look back on long after high school.

“After the final bows on closing night, I hope they feel like they accomplished something that they can take with them and be proud!”
