‘Star Wars’ tutorials help students learn about coding
Walnut Valley students are building galaxies with code in “Star Wars” tutorials during this week’s Hour of Code. In classes around the District, students are creating their own computer games, using block-based coding to help Princess Leia and spherical robot BB-8 collect scrap parts. “Minecraft” and “Frozen” tutorials are also offered this year to help appeal to all ages. The Hour of Code global event, founded by the non-profit Code.org, aims at exposing millions of students to computer science and coding basics as part of Computer Science Education Week. More than 184,000 K-12 schools and programs are hosting Hour of Code events.
