Walnut Valley Honors Classified Employees
Joanne Taylor tapped as classified employee of the year
WALNUT, CA- The Walnut Valley Unified School District recognized a dozen outstanding employees during the 17th Annual “A Class Act” Cornerstone Awards on February 4 at the Pomona Valley Mining Company.
The Cornerstone Award recognizes exemplary classified (non-teaching) employees who have gone “above and beyond the call of duty” in providing outstanding customer service to the District and community.
Congratulation to the following 2015 Cornerstone Award honorees: Joanne Taylor, Secretary II - Diamond Bar High School; Susan Lotz, Custodian II-Chaparral Middle School; Christine Tse, Instructional Aide II Bicultural/Bilingual– Westhoff Elementary; Christina Herrera, Noon Aide – C.J. Morris Elementary; Noel Foly, Grounds Worker I – Diamond Bar High School; Lisa Barta, School Office Manager– Suzanne Middle School; Singing Chen, Instructional Aide II Bilingual/Bicultural– Evergreen Elementary; Jorge Romero, Custodian II – Evergreen Elementary; Dori Valdez, SIS System Support Specialist –Educational Services; Chris Torres, Campus Security Officer – Ron Hockwalt Academies; Sheila Amini, Instructional Aide Special Education – Vejar Elementary; Margie Rios, Registrar-Ron Hockwalt Academies.
“Tonight’s honorees represent the very best of our classified employees!” said Superintendent Dr. Robert Taylor. Cornerstone Award winners were lauded with personalized tributes and gifts during the program.
Joanne Taylor was named the 2015 Classified Employee of the Year at the culmination of the event. She will now represent WVUSD in the Los Angeles County Classified Employee of the Year competition.
“I am so proud represent Walnut Valley!” Joanne said. “All of our employees put “Kids First” every day because we want to do our best to help every student succeed.”
Joanne is the go-to person for answers and her positive attitude is contagious! She brings 19 years of experience and high degree of professionalism to her role in the Guidance Office. Joanne exemplifies teamwork as she expertly organizes PSAT and CAHSEE testing, and the annual Awards Night. Secretary Lisa Krueger nominated her for the Cornerstone award.
The Walnut Valley Educational Foundation (WVEF) and WVUSD Personnel Commission co-sponsored the annual recognition event hosted by. Dr. Michelle Harold, assistant superintendent of human resources and Dr. Sergio Canal, director of human resources.
“I appreciate all of our classified employees. They are the cornerstones of our District,” said Gayle Pacheco, Personnel Commissioner and WVEF Board Member.
“Thank you to all our classified employees,” Board President Helen Hall said. “You are the true foundation for this District!”
