Suzanne Middle School pianist headed to Carnegie Hall

February 10, 2017

WALNUT, CA—A Suzanne Middle School 6th grader has been named a 1st place winner in the 2017 Golden Classical Music Awards.

The top performance earned pianist Frederick Chiu, age 11, an invitation to perform on the world’s most renowned stage – Carnegie Hall.

Chiu will play the “The Cat and The Mouse” by Aaron Copland on March 13 in the Weill Recital Hall.

“I am thrilled by this great opportunity and also grateful that all the hard work paid off!” he said.

Frederick began learning piano from his father at age five. Just three years later, he performed Mozart piano concerto No. 23 with the Ambitus Orchestra at Mt. SAC’s Feddersen Recital Hall.
